Hello there! My name is Ashlea and I am thrilled to be a guest designer for Hedgehog Hollow this month. I feel so lucky to be contributing this month as this box is chock full of goodies designed by Pretty Pink Posh! PPP always has such cute images and beautiful lettering for sentiments and I was instantly inspired. To see how I used these products, check out the video below:

I decided to create a “morning after” NYE scene using the Happy New Year stamp set. I thought about what NYE is to me, and as much as I would love to say its glamorous parties and masquerade balls, in reality its my friends apartment. One thing that always sticks out to me is the clean up the day after. We’ve all been there, right? Champagne bottles, glasses, and noise makers strewn about. I thought it would be fun to create this “morning after” scene so that my friends could get enjoyment and a good laugh out of my card.

To create this one layer scene onto a piece of 3 3/4” x 5” card stock, I used a masking technique to add perceived depth and dimension to the card. When masking it’s important to remember that whatever you stamp FIRST will be in FRONT of your scene. It’s almost like working backwards. Normally whatever you stamp first would be behind other images stamped after, but with masking its the opposite. For the masking, I used a full back sticky post it note and cut my stamped images as close to the line as possible.

For coloring, I used Copic markers and made sure to pay attention to shading and highlights since the scene and coloring is the entirety of this card. To add a little sparkle, I heat embossed Aladdin embossing powder by WOW onto the perimeter of my matted background which measured 4” x 5 1/4”. I adhered it all to an A2 sized card base and added a few of the sequins included in the box.

I hope that you’ve enjoyed learning a bit about how I created this card. I have been seeing all of your creations using this box and I’ve been totally blown away! Thanks so much for stopping by and I’ll see you again soon!
