Hi everyone! I’m Lindsay from Crafting While Caffeinated Blog & YouTube Channel, and I am so excited to guest designing this month for the Hedgehog Hollow!

The June kit is packed full of fantastic stamp sets, but I wanted to focus on the patterned paper pack that was included in the kit! Today, I’m sharing three ways to embellish and alter patterned paper to make the most of it. You can watch the video below for all the details, or keep reading!

The first way to alter/embellish patterned paper that I’m sharing is texture and stencils! I LOVE the watercolor patterned papers that come in the kit (I’m horrible at creating watercolor backgrounds that look presentable), and they make the perfect backdrop to add a bit of stenciling over the top.

I used a white opal modeling paste for added shine as well, but any paste with some dimension will do. All that I needed to add was a sentiment and a few stamped images from the “Seahorses” stamp set. The layered seahorse and coral make the perfect finishing touches!

Included in the June Hedgehog Hollow kit is an “Inside Verses” stamp set and I put it to good use on each of my cards. Here’s a look at the inside of my first card. I also added a stamped image from the “Seahorses” stamp set to highlight the sentiment and add a bit of interest.

Another way to alter your patterned paper is with ink blending. I loved the seahorse and jellyfish patterned paper and thought it had a vintage feel, so I decided to add a little ink blending around the edges and also distress the edges, too. It’s such a quick way to add a lot of interest!

To finish the card, I added the large conch sell and a sentiment from the “Just Keep Swimming” stamp set that I heat embossed to keep with the vintage feel.

Again, I couldn’t stay away from the “Inside Verses” stamp set! I added a quick sentiment on the inside and finished it off with a shell image from the same “Just Keep Swimming” stamp set that I used on the front of the card beneath it. Super simple!

Finally, my favorite way to add a bit of embellishment to patterned paper is with foil! Who doesn’t love some shine? I used one of the watercolor “drops” paper and cut in half to fit the side of my card base. Then, with a glue pen, I added bits of glue here and there to highlight specific areas of the patterned paper.

There is no right or wrong way to add the glue; I just added it where I thought the foil would look best! Then, once the glue has gotten to it’s “sticky” stage, I applied some Pewter foil. The foil added such a cool effect to an already very unique piece of patterned paper. I wanted to keep that paper as my main focal point, so I only added a sentiment from the “Just Keep Swimming” stamp set.

Although I adore the outside of this card, the inside is probably my favorite. It is so simple but so beautiful – it could be its own card design! I, again, went for the “Inside Verses” stamp set and added a quick sentiment. Then, with an image from the “It’s All in the Waves” stamp set, I added a quick ocean wave to the bottom of the card. It was so easy but so elegant!

I hope you all enjoyed a look at these three cards using the June 2019 kit from The Hedgehog Hollow and also some fun and easy ways to alter and embellish your patterned paper that was included in the kit! Until next time, happy crafting!!
