Hello! It’s Kari V. here again, and I’m excited to share a project with the new January 2020 Kit! Today I’m showing you five ways to get a perfect watercolor background. And surprise…we are not just using watercolor. No, we are using different mediums to get that watercolor look! It’s so easy with the stamps in this kit!

I’ve got so many cards to share, so let’s get started!

This one might be one of my favorites; I used my favorite Catherine Pooler inks to create a variegated watercolor background look. Then I white heat embossed the sentiment right on top. I love a big sentiment that takes up a card panel. It’s so striking, and it makes it so easy to create lots of cards FAST!

I got a small ink smudge in the corner, but never fear…sequins to the rescue! I just added a few strategically placed sequins, and you’d never know about that smudge. (yay!)

I added a little Stickles to the center of the sequins and some of the hearts. It adds some sparkle, and who doesn’t love sparkle?

For this next one, I used a sparkle embossing powder in turquoise to match the background color. I cut out the panel with a cross-stitched die and added some black cardstock as a mat.

The stars were created with the star stencil from the kit. I simply inked them on with a makeup brush all around the edges of the card base. So easy!

I have A LOT of techniques to share in the video below, I also show you how to keep on going when you make mistakes…and how to fix them! Watch me as I make one big mess and still keep it for a card in the end. (ha…I can’t believe I left it in the video!)

Watch it below, or watch it on YouTube:

I had a lot of fun creating all these cards with different mediums like Distress Ink, Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers, Gansai Tambi Watercolors, Catherine Pooler inks, and Tombow Markers. Watch the video to get the techniques to see which ones YOU like the best!

It’s easy to make a simple card panel like this one…or make them a little more fancy like these:

I know you will LOVE this kit! I love it already. I hope I’ve inspired you to give some new techniques a try! I’ll be back soon with more inspiration.
