Hi Krafty Friends, I’m back up on the blog today with this sweet Nativity slimline card. I can’t get enough of slimline cards lately! I love all the extra space to create scenes. Look at this stamp set from Novembers Subscription Box; how sweet are those faces?? This was so fun to create; I hope you are as inspired by this box as I am!

Create the Nativity Scene

The first thing I did was ink up a 9″ x 4″ background panel with Oxide Inks in Chipped Sapphire and Mow Lawn. Then, I added a Black Soot layer on top (to mute down the colors) and made it look like a night scene. Next, I spritzed my panel with water and blotted dry. After that, I splattered white distress paint and a mixture of Maker Fortes “Alien” Kaleidoscope Powder with water to splatter for a shimmering effect. I love how this turned out!

Then, I used the new Trinity Stamps “Staggered Rectangle Frames” die to cut several openings. I wanted to use this piece as a frame for my images, so I used Lawn Fawn’s largest die from the “Large Slimline with Sliders” set to cut a border around the rectangles.

Next, I wanted the frame to symbolize a manger, so I colored it with Copic Markers in E23, E25, and E27 to give a wood-like look. Then, I adhered my frame onto my dried background panel. I stamped my sentiment, “For unto us a child is born,” on the inside of the card.

The Copic colors used for the Nativity Stamps are:

Donkey: E23, E25 and E27. Underside: E42, E43 and E44. Ears: R02

Joseph – Skin: E00, E11 and E23. Hair: E42, E44 and E49. Clothes: BG90, BG93 and BG96. Vest: E42 and E43. Staff: E35 and E37.

Baby Jesus – Skin: E21, E11, and R02. Cradle: E23, E25, and E27. Straw: YR23 and YR24. Blanket: B91 and B93 (under C0). Star: YR 23 and YR24 with Wink of Stella for shine.

Mary – Skin: E00, E11 and E23. Hair: E25, E35 and E37. Clothes: B91, B93, B95 and B97.
