Hello friends! It’s Victoria and I am back with a super easy and quick card using a stencil from the May 2020 Subscription Kit and inks by Catherine Pooler Designs.
I often find myself making cards at the last minute – birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, you name it! So when I need to make a card in a hurry, I reach for stencils and inks!
For this project you will need a card base and card panel (I used a 5×7 inch base for this project), coordinating stamp or distress inks of your choice, a stencil, a stamp sentiment, and a blending tool.
For this project, I used one of two stencils that was included in the May 2020 Subscription Box. First, I positioned the stencil toward the middle of a card base. Note: This particular stencil will run off the edge of the panel. To hold the stencil in place, I used low tack tap.
Using 3-4 coordinating inks (of your choice) and a blending tool, begin adding ink to the card panel, over the stencil. Start with the darkest color ink to the lightest color, working toward the center of the stencil.
Remove the stencil to reveal the final image! For added interest, before moving the stencil, sprinkle the panel with droplets of water and blot with a paper towel or cloth, then remove the stencil.
This technique is totally optional, but it adds a ton of interest to the card! NOTE: You will need to use an ink that is reactive to water to achieve this look (i.e. dye based inks).
Next, select a sentiment for your card. I used the Exclusively Hand Lettered Stamp Set from the Hedgehog Hollow.
Apply the sentiment using black stamping ink. I opted to heat emboss the sentiment “You Inspire Me” using Nuvo Embossing Powder (Jet Black) and VersaMark Embossing Ink.
Lastly, attached the panel to a card base using dimensional adhesive, add sequin or gems, and you are good to go! Quick, simple, and super easy!
Let’s us know in the comments section if you are a “last minute” card maker (no judgements)!
Thanks for stopping by!
