Hello! It’s Kari here today with a fun project using the February Hedgehog Hollow Kit. I am going to share an easy way to use the stencil and add a textured look on top of that ink.

I have a short video here, or watch it in HD on YouTube:

If you subscribe to this kit, I hope you’ve already had a chance to play with the fun stamp set to build up a flower (or two!) Having a play gives you an idea of how far apart the petals need to be placed.

For this card, I started off with the stencil. I inked on the center of the large pink flower first using Neon Lights ink. It might not be realistic to have a blue center for a flower…but on a card, why not?!

Then I inked on the pink petals, starting light with Bubblegum ink and then adding more color with Tiptree Jam ink. I left the petals lighter on the outside to give it more of a depth in the center.

Once the petals were done, I inked on the stem.

To add the yellow flower, I masked off a couple of those pink petals using some mint tape. This way, the yellow flower will look like it is behind the pink flower. Then I did much the same: inked on the center first (using Flat White ink), inked on the petals (with English Mustard ink), then inked on the stem (using Welsh Dragon ink).

Next to add the texture! I used some of the stamps that came in the kit. For the center of the flowers I stamped the small circle pattern with black ink on both flowers.

For the pink flower, I stamped the petal circular pattern on with Flamingo ink…just so it was a shade lighter than the petals inked on before. This gives somewhat of a textured look and it’s so fun!
