Hi there,
It’s Karen sharing some that I created with the January HH Kit. I loved how the kit coordinated beautifully with Mixed Media elements and was perfect for altering canister lids that I used as my base for the tags. I coordinated the kit with Canister Lids, Distressed Oxide ink, Expanding Mousse, gesso, Star Pins, and dyed ribbon. Take a peek at my tutorial steps below.
I began this project by applying some Distress Oxide ink (Squeezed Lemonade, Mermaid Lagoon) and water to my glass mat. I placed my white cardstock from the kit on top of the ink and water to ink the cardstock. Then I heat set the cardstock to dry.
Next, I die cut circles to fit the inside of my canister lids using a die-cut machine and the inked cardstock.
Using black ink, I stamped the Moon Lantern onto the inked circles. I also stamped sentiments from the kit onto inked cardstock.
Next, I distressed the edges of the inked cardstock with oxide inks and then applied Expanding Mousse to the inked and stamped cardstock. I heated the Expanding Mousse to create a nice bubbly texture and then set the inked cardstock aside.
I prepped the canister lids by applying gesso to the edges of the lids, applied some Expanding Mousse, and then heat set them.
Using a Cropadile, I punched a hole into the tops of the tags, adhered the inked and stamped sentiments and circle inserts to the center of the canister lids.
Lastly, I added an additional worded sentiment and tapped on some gesso to enhance the overall design.
I really enjoyed how this project turned out. I hope that you did too.
Thanks for visiting today!
