Happy Birthday America!

Loving all the ephemera in the current Hedgehog Hollow monthly kit. The contents of this month’s box makes it so easy to create cards for the 4th of July. I did’t even need to use Copic markers!

Step 1 for this card was to choose the pieces that you want to use on the card. I decided one a top hat and three stars. The sentiment will be the banner simply stating America. I feel that is all that needs to be said. To fill in the card front as well as connect the pieces I cut two strips of coordinating paper. The stars and strip paper included in the kit was perfect.

Since the stars and hat have two shades of blue, I decided to cut a solid blue to match. This I placed behind the Stars and Stripes stripe.

The next step in making this card is to choose the card base and layers. I just had to go with red, white and blue. For my white layer I used a light wood grain paper to go with the aged look of the ephemera. If you do not have this type of paper use a creamer color if you want to match the colors of the ephemera.

This is a standard A-2 card so the base is 5.5”x4.25”. The layers are cut .25” less then the one it is covering.

The final step is to affix all the layers to each other then place the stripes and ephemera on the card. Once you are happy with the placement start glueing. I like dimension so I used foam tape for both the sentiment and the largest star. The final touch was to add three red enamel dots to complete the card.

Have fun creating your version of this card. I love seeing them!
