Friends and fellow card makers now that are in the dog days of summer I felt it was the perfect time to make a card to celebrate the heat. It will be easy with the current Hedgehog Hollow monthly subscription box. For me the first summer thought is a big cookout! So I have decided to make a card to celebrate just that.

This box includes everything you will need to make summer cards. I picked a green gingham piece of paper from the stack for the card base. Next I cut a white A2 layer one for the stenciling of the ants. What would a picnic or cookout be without those pesky ants? The stencil in the kit has some large ants which I used in a random pattern.

There are so many ephemera pieces in the kit it was hard to pick only a few to use on the card. In the end I went with the classic hamburger and hot dog along with the ketchup and mustard bottles. These I arranged onto the ant covered layer until I was happy with the placement.

The final step was to attach the pieces. At this time I used foam tape to attach the foreground items to create depth. The other pieces were glued down. As the rule of three dictates I also used foam tape to attach the sentiment. I die cut a couple of geometric triangles to anchor the sentiment. Lastly, I added three enamel black dots to help balance the colors.

Now this is what I call a clean and simple card! Enjoy making your summer cards. I am looking forward to seeing them.
