Hi everyone, it’s Julianne here with a slimline card using alcohol inks, along with the products that can be found in the August 2020 box. If you are a fan of all things bees, like myself, this box is for you!
I recently created some alcohol ink backgrounds and found myself not being able to put them down (like usual LOL). While making this yellow background, I thought to myself how pretty would it be to make a background inspired by honey. So, that’s exactly what I did.
I started out with some Yupo paper and added three alcohol ink colors in Sunshine Yellow, Sunset Orange, and Valencia.
Those three colors combined gave me the prettiest background, so of course, I had to make two. I mean it only makes sense 🙂 If you haven’t ever used alcohol inks, be prepared because they are su[er addictive. No matter if you use the same color,s your backgrounds will always come out looking different.
You can see how this card came together here on my YouTube channel
Once both of my backgrounds had time to dry, I ran them through my die cutting machine. Any hexagon dies will work for this. I didn’t want to waste the backgrounds, so I placed my die cuts as close together as possible. That way, I can get the most out of each background.
With my die cutting done, I used the Buzzing By stamp set to stamp those adorable bees. Then, I colored them in using some Copic markers. ‘Cause hey, what’s honey without bees right?
After deciding on a placement, I used some Cling Wrap to pick up all my die-cut images. That made it easy to add adhesive behind them before adhering them to my background panel.
Finally, I used some alphabet die cuts to spell out the word “bee” and combined them with a stamped sentiment from the busy bee stamp set, so my sentiment read Bee Happy. I adhered those down to my card, as well as the cute little bees. And to finish off my card, I added Nuvo drops throughout my background.
Thank you all for stopping by and spending some time with me today, I hope you enjoyed my slimline card using alcohol inks. I hope it inspires you to dig out those inks and spend the afternoon making some unique backgrounds.
