Happy Friday, crafty friends! Today I’m creating a bold card using the seashell stencil from the May Hedgehog Hollow Box.

I started the card with a leftover piece of watercolor cardstock that was a little larger than 6×6. Next comes the fun, inky part! I pulled out my Ken Oliver ColorBursts (watercolor powder) in the colors Prussian Blue, Turquoise, Wisteria, Peony and Chartreuse. Each powder color was sprinkled onto the cardstock and then spritzed with water to activate. These were applied starting from the bottom of the cardstock and layering the colors until each of the above colors had been applied in the same order as listed.

Next, one more spritz of water was sprayed over the colored cardstock. Then the seashell stencil was placed over the cardstock and a clean piece of paper placed over the stencil. To get a good impression of the stencil, the clean piece of paper was pressed and rubbed to get a good transfer of the stencil image. The clean piece of paper was then removed. The stencil was left in place over the colored cardstock and a heat gun was used to apply heat in small amounts so as to not melt the stencil. Any remaining wet areas were then mopped up with a clean papertowel.

The stencil was the removed to leave a beautiful array of colors.

To keep the watercolored background bright, an old watermark ink pad was pressed over the entire panel. The panel was then covered with clear embossing powder and melted with a heat gun. This created a glossy look to the panel.

The panel was then trimmed to 4 ¼ x 5 ½. Next, the palm tree/beach house stamp from the box was stamped in Versafine Black ink, covered with clear embossing powder and heat set. This image was fussy cut and foam added and then adhered to the card panel.

The card was finished by adding a few Acid Wash Crown Jewels and a Simple Sayings sentiment.

I hope you create something today! Thanks so much for stopping by!
