Hello Hollowers! Today I am back with my first Pocket Page! During the past year I have turned to krafting and audio books to help keep my mind at ease. My daughter and I have decided to take some classes from Ali Edwards and work on “our” stories. This is an extension of my “krafting is my therapy” mantra.
When I was brain storming my first page, I thought of the January Box and its reading theme. I had just finished this really good book by Matt Haig, called “The Midnight Library” (I highly recommend this to everyone). So I thought I would start my 2021 stories with my thoughts on this book that moved me.
The first thing I did to start my project was type up my synopsis of the book, and printed it on a 4″ x 6″ piece of cardstock. My “Word of the Year” is Positive, so I highlighted that in my paragraph.
I decided to use a page protector with two 3″x 4″ pockets, and one 4″ x 6″ pocket. I also decorated a 3″ x 6″ insert to go with my theme. I used stamps from several of the January Box sets including “One More Chapter”, “Coffee & Books” and “Let’s Have a Word.”
I used Maker Forte’s Remarkable Ink Pad in Eclipse Black, and was so happy with the results. I didn’t need to stamp it twice, because my coverage was good to go on the first attempt. Then to clean my stamp I also used products from Maker Forte’s new line of cleaning supplies. First, I sprayed my stamp with “Squid Buster Cleaning Fluid” then I used my little pink Squid Buddy (no I haven’t named him yet) and finally wiped all the ink off with the cleaning cloth. This process worked fabulously and I was able to remove all the ink residue.
I colored my images with a very basic Copic Marker palette, then I decided to mat my 3″ X 4″ inserts. I trimmed 1/8″ off each side, rounded the corners of all my pieces then adhered them to the mats.
Finishing off the “bookmark” piece I stamped a few small images from Honey Bee Stamps “Coffee Break” set and added them to the top and bottom for some added interest. I also randomly added yellow and starry night tickles to the polkadots on the image.
I am so happy with the way my first “Story” page came out! This is how I plan on doing several of my story pages this year. I want to make sure I use my supplies on hand, so therefore I will integrate several stamps into my memory keeping. Thanks so much for visiting with me again this week! I will be back next week with a project from the February Subscription Box. Happy krafting!https://linkdeli.com/widget.js?id=f5e8378456858c916708
