Hello again! It’s Kari with a cute Butterfly card. The sentiment on this card has me laughing a bit. It reads: “You really are acute one.” I thought it would work out perfectly with the triangle background I created.

This butterfly is one I watercolored last week using my watercolor markers. (If you haven’t seen the process video for the watercoloring, check it out on this post here.)

Then I gold heat embossed the butterfly onto vellum and I layered up the two butterflies using glue dots.

Then I turned my attention to the background. I taped off triangles using thin post-it tape. You could use any tape you have…even washi tape would work.

I used a brush to add the distress ink in four colors: Spun Sugar, Abandoned Coral, Worn Lipstick, and Festive Berries…with the darkest color toward the bottom of the card.

Here’s the reveal after taking off the tape:

Once that was complete, I cut a wonky triangle out of typing paper to create a stencil. Then I used gold watercolor paint to splatter on a butterfly trail. I put the paper inside a box to *try* to contain those splatters. Lol. It looks a little messy here, but wait until you remove the stencil!

Once the golden butterfly trail was dry, I attached the double layered butterfly along with the sentiment and gold glitter tape. I created a frame with gold glitter paper to finish it all off.

I hope you enjoyed this project today! I’ll see you next time!
Here’s one last look at the card:
