Hi Everyone! It’s Jenny here with my first post as a member of new Design Team! Today I’m taking it back to basics with my favorite card style and technique – I have a clean and simple shaker card to share with you!

I often like to create shakers with dies that you wouldn’t typically use to create the shaker window.   For my card today (while I wait for the newest Hedgehog Hollow kit to arrive!) I used the Hedgehog Hollow Love die to create the window.

I took a panel of white cardstock and die-cut the Love die from the centre, and removed all the pieces. Before doing anything I stamped my sentiment in black ink (from an earlier Hedgehog Hollow kit) and then backed the window with acetate.

The trick for creating shaped shaker windows while ensuring all of the shaker pieces show through the window and don’t get ‘lost’ off to the side, is to use craft foam for your dimension, which you can shape to the window.  I took two pieces of craft foam and die cut the Love die from them again.  I then used scissors to roughly enlarge hole in each (it won’t show), and then adhered both pieces behind the window.

My shaker pieces are the super elegant mix from the Pretty Pink Posh / Hedgehog Hollow December kit  – I just love the combination of gold, clear and black. I tipped them in and then closed up the window with a small panel of cardstock. I adhered the entire piece to a white notecard.

To cover the panel, I die cut the Love die one more time using Silver Metallic cardstock from the December kit, and adhered it over the window where it perfectly fits in place!  Scatter some of the sequins around the panel and you’re finished!

You can use other word dies and other unusual shapes to create shaker cards in this way – they’re so much fun to do!
