HEY FRIENDS! This is Nancy Sheads from Rowhouse Greetings and I’m back today with my second project, a colorful geometric mandala card, as a guest designer today here at The Hedgehog Hollow.

My project features the Geometric Mandala stamp from the June 2020 subscription box. When I first saw it, I immediately thought of a color wheel so I pulled out my Copic markers and got to work.

I selected one of the 6×6 design papers included in the subscription box and stamped the image with Copic friendly ink using my MISTI stamping tool. I’m going to be stamping this image twice — once before coloring and a second time after — so a stamping tool is really a necessity here.

Now I’ll admit upfront that I used a lot of markers – after all, there are 13 circles to color. But this is also a great image to practice your Copic blending so just pick marker combinations from your collection and have some fun. New to Copic blending? Never fear! I’ll show you in the video below.

When you finish coloring the image, you could just select a sentiment and assemble the card, but I wanted my stamped lines to be bolder. So I placed the image back in my MISTI, stamped the image with Versafine Ink (Nocturne), and immediately covered the wet ink with clear embossing powder. Once I heat set the image, the lines were more prominent and I was happier with the results.

I was in need of a birthday card so I selected one of the sentiments in the Simple Strips – Birthday stamp from Taylored Expressions. I stamped the image with Versafine ink. Once again, I covered the wet ink with clear embossing powder and heat set the sentiment. I used the coordinating Simple Strips Die to create the banner. I adhered the image to the card base and used the Foam Sticky Strips from Taylored Expressions to add to the sentiment.
