Hey, party people! It’s me, Amber, and it’s my birthday today. Woot! Woot! I’m sharing a Copic winter scene for beginners adorned by the cutest snowman from The Hedgehog Hollow October subscription box. Beginners can totally do this scene!!

YouTube Tutorial | Copic Winter Scene for Beginners

This is the 2nd Copic scene I’ve ever done. I love the result! See my 1st completed scene in the video too. Mindy Baxter’s fabulous September Online Coloring class inspired this scene.

Copic Sketch Marker Colors

I just taught a workshop at the Scrapbook and Stamp EXPO in Ontario, CA and I bought some new Copic colors and a few other things for my birthday. Of course, I was itching to use my new YG90 family.

Here’s the skinny on the colors I used. You can substitute these for the markers you own.

W00, W1, W3, W5, W7 0, C1, C3 YG91, YG93, YG95, YG97 Y21, Y28, YR23, YR24 BV20, BG000, BG01

Copic Texture Tips

Did you know that BV20 separates into blue-green and violet when you go over it with the Colorless Blender? It creates the most perfect effect for wintery scenes and fairy wings.

I squeezed a little Copic Various Solution on a terry cloth scrap to create snow texture in the sky. For the best results and fine details, make sure the cloth is slightly damp not sopping wet.

Adding Snow

To stamp the trees in the background I used Altenew Morning Frost and Evening Gray Crisp Dye Inks. A fellow Design Team member, Jessica Francisco inspired these ghostly trees. See her awesome card and post here.

I drew fine detail scribbles and dots of snow onto the trees and snowman’s hat with a Sakura Gelly Roll White 10 pen and created larger flakes by flicking Altenew Pure White Ink Spray onto the card.

The rest of the details are in the video so be sure to check it out! Thanks for joining me today. Please let me know what you think down below!
