Hey Krafty Friends, Jen from Katahdin Krafts back on the blog, with this fun shaker card using February’s Subscription Box.

For this weeks project I decided to go with black, white and red, these are my children sports teams colors. I thought this would make a great thank you card for someone involved in our sports program. Our team mascot is a Cougar, and February’s theme is perfect for some Cougar Pride!

For this card, I wanted to make my own shaker elements. So I dug out my Shrink Film and started stamping. I used Maker Fortes “ReMarkable Eclipse Black Ink”, stamping each image twice using my Misti tool for perfect alignment. I stamped a whole sheet of paws prints from “Puppy Love” and “Love You Fur-Ever” stamp sets.

Next, I fussy cut all my images out. This did take a little bit of time, because I stamped out several other images so I could shrink them as well. I used my R29 Copic Marker to fill in the hearts on the paws. I then baked my shrink film images on a tinfoil lined tray in a pre-heated oven (350 F) for 3 minutes.

I love how they turned out! You can see how much they shrunk in the baking process compared to the original stamps. The package says it shrinks to about 20% of the original size. This is a great way to get another use out of your stamps. They make nice dimensional elements to add to your cards, and nice customized shaker bits!

For my shaker frame I used Lawn Fawn’s Stitched Scalloped Rectangle Frames. Then I cut a piece of the black and white pattern paper that came with this months box and a piece of acetate just slight smaller than the frame size.

I adhered the acetate to the back of the frame with liquid glue, I then doubled up foam tape, and cut it into thirds. I put two layers of foam around my frame to make sure the pieces inside to had room to move freely. Next, I filled my card with shaker bits from Crescent Creation and Honey Bee Stamps, plus the small paws that I made.

For my sentiment I used Lawn Fawn’s “Thank You Border” and cut several out onto white cardstock. Then I ran them through my Xyron Sticker Machine and layered them together for depth. I used a corner rounder on my black cardstock frame (5.25″ x 4″) before adhering it to my card base (5.5″ x 4.25″). Then I glued my shaker portion off center on my card panel, this gave my sentiment plenty of space under the shaker.

I added two larger paw prints to the corners with glue dots, and added a few embellishments to dress up my card.

Look at all that wonderful dimension! I really love how this card turned out, and I want to shrink all the things now! I was happy with how the Remarkable Ink worked on the shrink film surface, plus it baked well.

Thank you so much for stopping in and krafting with me this week! I have really enjoyed the February Subscription Box, and all the animal love! See you next week with another krafty project!
