Hello friends! This is Victoria, one of the newest Hedgehog Hollow design team members! I am so excited to create my first projects using the March 2020 Hedgehog Hollow Subscription Box! Today, I am sharing two cards that feature a window and a shaker design.

These cards are easy to make and perfect to send to a friend or a loved one. Let’s begin with the shaker card!

To begin, trim (1) one piece of solid white card stock (5×7 inches), which will serve as the base panel. For the frame and inside shaker panel, you will need a piece of solid black card stock, a piece of pattern paper, and a set of rectangle craft dies (optional).

For this project, I used two rectangle craft dies by Lawn Fawn (4 x 2.5 inches and 5 x 3.75 inches). I placed the smaller die (4 x 2.75 inches) inside of the larger die (5 x 3. 75 inches) to create a frame. Additionally, I used the 4 x 2.75 inch border die to create a pattern paper panel.

NOTE: If you do not have a border die, no worries! The black frame panel can be created using a paper trimmer or scissors and a ruler. Simply trim a piece of black card stock to 5 x 3.75 inches and measure 1/2 inch from the border to the center of the panel (all four sides), and remove the center portion of the panel to create a frame.

Next, create a repetitive stamped background using the envelope stamp from the Friends Who Craft Together stamp set and the 5 x 7 inch solid white card stock panel. To add a bit of flare, color each envelop using a color instrument of your choice. For this project, I used alcohol markers!

To create the shaker window, trim a piece of acetate to 5 x 3. 75 inches. Attach the acetate piece to the back of the black frame. Next, add foam strips to the back side of the frame; position the foam close the inside edge of the frame. This will create a barrier for the shaker contents.

Next, sprinkle sequin on top of the pattern paper panel. Be sure to place the sequin toward the middle of the panel. Position the black frame on top of the pattern paper panel.

Next, heat emboss the “inspire” stamp image from the Exclusively Hand Lettered stamp set using embossing ink, black card stock, and white embossing powder. Fussy cut the sentiment and adhere it to the shaker panel.

Using the Friends Who Craft Together stamp set and black ink, stamp, color, and fussy cut the glue bottle, ink jar, and pen. Adhere the stamp images above the “inspire” sentiment.

Lastly, adhere the envelope stamped panel to a card base. Add the shaker panel to the stamped envelope panel.

And with that, you have a fun shaker card!

You can create a similar card without the shaker element. Just repeat the steps above, only this time, omit the acetate panel and sequin. Add the stamped glue bottle, ink jar, and pen to the inside the black frame. Use foam dots to add dimension to the “inspire” sentiment and adhere it to the pattern paper panel. Finish the card with jewels or sequin for added interest!

Both of these projects are so fun to make! Be sure to grab your March 2020 Subscription Box before they sell out and give these designs a try!
