Hi there Hollowers! Today I am back with another project using the Day of the Dead September Subscription Box .
If you would rather see the process in action, a quick YouTube video is available for viewing.
Today I am using the 6×8 stamp set with the dancing skeletons along with the sentiment stamp set.
I started out with a piece of Hammermill 110 lb paper cut down to approximately 8 ½ x 5 ½. I will be using a border die so I wanted to make sure that the landscape width of the paper would span the entire die.
Next, I colored the border dies with Tombow BrushMarkers. I picked out five bright, vibrant colors which are: #403, #195, #933, #755 and #055. I colored with each marker a big enough section that would allow me to die cut at least two strips of my die, leaving a small white space between each color. After my coloring was complete, I cut each color twice with the Hello Bluebird Basic Borders die.
I chose the two skeleton images and using my stamping platform and Memento Black ink stamped the three images to look like they were connected at the hands. I also stamped up two of the guitar images. I colored up my images using my Copic Ciao markers and then used my Scan N Cut to cut all of the images out.
The assembly of this card was quick and easy! I started by gluing down all of my border strips to a piece of 4 ¼ x 5 ½ white cardstock. I started gluing from the bottom and worked my way to the top being careful to glue only the top portion of the die cut so that I could layer small portion of the current layer over the previous layer. I then adhered my panel to a black card base, popped up the two outside skeletons with some foam strips and adhered the image over the colorful border strips.
The Day of the Dead sentiment was white heat embossed on black cardstock. I added foam strips to the back of the sentiment and adhered to the top of the card panel. To complete the card, I added a guitar image to each side of the card and embellished with colorful gems.
Until next time, take care!
