Hey guys, it’s Jess! Have you ever wanted to make a scene card but weren’t sure where to start? Then, I’ve got the perfect card for you. We’re going to make an easy scene card using the cute snowmen from the October 2019 box. Let’s get started!
I used a piece of white cardstock and stamped out the adorable snowmen with my Mini MISTI. I used alcohol safe ink here because I’ll be doing a little bit of coloring with alcohol markers. I used the Spectrum Noir Colouring System markers and added just a touch of blue to the snowmen so they weren’t stark white. I also colored in their accessories.
After I colored up my snowmen, I used full sticky post it notes to stamp and then cut out a mask for both images. I layered the masks on top of my stamped and colored images, and then chose the winter tree image. I used a grey ink for my stamping – the color was a little too dark, though, so I stamped it off on a piece of scrap paper first, then stamped on to my background. This is called second generation stamping. I even stamped again to get an even lighter impression and make it look like the trees were fading off into the distance.
Once my stamping was done, I carefully removed the masks to reveal my colored images. I used a few more alcohol markers to sketch in a hill of snow so that it gave the snowmen and trees something to stand on. I stamped the sentiment ‘Christmas love’ at the top with my Mini MISTI and then matted the panel with sparkly blue cardstock.
I love how simple this card is, but it’s a great little scene! Have you tried building any scenes in your projects?
