Hi there, friends! Today I am sharing two cards using the August Hedgehog Hollow Box. This month’s box is full of Fun, Fall goodies!
There is also a YouTube video to go along with this tutorial:
I used the cute “Hello Fall” coffee cup for the first card. The image was stamped three times using Versafine Onyx black ink on Bristol Smooth cardstock. I masked off the sentiment portion of two of the images using a sticky note so that the sentiment would not get inked up and stamped.
As I was waiting for the stamped images to dry, I used the acorn and leaf layering stencil and added the stenciled images to a narrow piece of white cardstock. I blended Catherine Pooler inks in Sage Green and Green Tree through the stencil to color the leaves. Next, Sand Castle and Icing on the Cake (Catherine Pooler) were used to add the colors of the acorn.
I watercolored the coffee cups using the leftover ink on my surface. To watercolor, I dipped a slightly wet paintbrush into the ink and then coloring the images. On the two images with no sentiment, I added some freehand watercolor lines using the Catherine Pooler inks. With the coloring complete, the images were fussy cut.
I then used a piece of pattern paper from my stash along with an edger die to create a decorative background for the stenciled piece of paper. A tape runner was used to adhere the two pieces together. Next, twine was wrapped around these pieces to add interest, Thin foam was added to the back of the panel and adhered to the card base. Foam was also added to the back of the coffee cups and adhered to the panel.
I completed the card by using the leftover inks on my craft surface to add some ink splatter.
For the second card, I used the Let the Leaves Fall image. The image was stamped onto Hammermill cardstock in Color Hive clear embossing ink and then gold embossing powder was sprinkled on top and heat set. The leaves were also stamped and embossed in gold and then fussy cut. The Let the Leaves Fall image was cut out using a stitched circle die.
Next, I used the Fading Cubes slimline stencil on the left side of a piece of Hammermill cardstock using Catherine Pooler colors Seafoam, Daydream and Aquatini. A piece of twine was added vertically and the sentiment and leaves were then adhered. A few sequins were added for the finishing touch!
I hope these cards inspire you to create today! Thanks so much for stopping by!
