Hi Hollowers!
Welcome to day three of our relaunch. Today is one of my favorite tutorials and Mr H-h has had so much fun photographing these cards so grab a coffee and you laborite cookie and settle in for lots of pictures and two FULL video tutorials. Without further ado I have so excited to announce that I am part of Concord and 9th’s affiliate program! Concord and 9th are helping with celebrate with a $25 gift card for one of my readers! You will also see them linked on my sidebar. To enter the giveaway you just need to comment on this blog post before midnight EST today (8th March 2017) with your favorite technique featured today.

When I started scrolling through their site I was instantly drawn to this butterfly set. I could see so many uses for it, using all the elements or just one or two individually. That’s exactly what I have done for you, first up I have this moth card full of altered techniques and drama:
I also raised each layer individually so you could get lots of depth, you can see it best in a side view:
I also have a complete contrast card for you, this technique is studding and gives you such a vibrant and pixelated effect:
Again I added layers to give you lots of dimension:
I love both of these for completely different reasons, but i’m even more in love with the techniques and the versatility of the stamp and die combo! I have filmed two videos so you can make you own, why not trying your favorite color combinations to see how they come out? If you have never heat embossed Click Here to go to our ToolTurial. Here is the part 1 to make the moth:
Now for the more pixelated image and how to achieve those beautiful blends:
I tried lots of inks and distress really were the best for both of these techniques, the shaving brushes are a must have for my blending, mine are very old but I recently ordered a few different ones from Amazon and have linked up my favorites; I also really recommend distress paper, I was very skeptical; however, it gave me much crisper results. To make it clearer I did two supply lists, of course you might be like me and have to have it all! Don’t forget to use the links below or my SSS banner so they know where you come from, there’s also a $5 off code ‘LEAP’ for SSS.

Part 2 Supply List:

I love the first card with the gold tones! It looks like it is an antique card!
Thank you, it is so rich and intense
Fascinating techniques and beautiful colors! Thank you for sharing so many ideas.
Thank you so stopping by
I love both of these for different reasons! Again, I gained a lot of technique knowledge from watching. I can see that I NEED to purchase more items and am starting a list. I like the use of the doiley on the background of #1. I also like how you used the ink to create the background of #2. Both new to me. The butterflies are stunning! I also appreciated your tip of how to remove the glossy accent when there was more than you intended. Thank you.
Lol! I could have edited out the mistake but I thought its one of those things that at some point happens to us all! Be sure to use our HH banners for your shopping so they know where you came from!
I really love the telfon in the misti!! I love the stamp set and this technique was amazing!!! I can wait to create my own!!!
Thank you, the teflon was a game changer for me, gave me so much more flexibility, I have two videos full of misti tips if you hadn’t seen them
My favourite is the first card with the doily background. I’m going to be trying that one! Thanks.
Make sure you tag us or send us your creations, we love to see them
L’m not sure which I like better. Now I’m going to have to try these techniques.
Make sure you show us your designs
Loved masking the doily.

wow, both cards are beautiful but I think I like the first one the best. Hope the winners come forward but if they don’t, yah an other chance to WIN.
Thank you, we will keep you posted on the giveaways!
I love your brown butterfly card. The background is stunning. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, happy stamping!
Love how you contrasted the second card with the blues pinks purples I will re watch this a few times over to get it! Simply stunning!
It’s such an easy technique with a stamp press but so effective
That gold butterfly card is sooo beautiful! I love how the distress inks colored the velum so nicely! I think my favorite tip from today’s videos was the barber’s brushes. Like you mentioned, since they are normally used with soap and water, they are easy to clean!
I loe them so much, I have a few more tutorials on the way with them too!
I love both cards but if I had to pick one it would be the mixed media brown one. I love the colors and prettiness of it
Thank you for your kind comments

Tomorrow is a great introduction to something you have all been asking for!

Oh my gosh — so much fun. I am a child of the 60s (yes, some of us are that old) and all the layering of inks and special finishes took me back in time. I’m going to need to play with altering projects soon! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, you can use so many things as a mask
I am learning all about distress ink. I will be looking into the specialty paper too. I have butterfly stamps and thinlets that I can experiment with. I like the second card with the bright colours best.
The paper is well worth it for distress inks at least, i still havent tried other inks on it….yet

Thank you, we have sooooo much to share with you all!
Both of these cards are absolutely stunning! I like the 1st one the best because of the doily masking and the added layer of vellum wings. That being said, I love the colors of the second one better. Irregardless, they are both so beautiful that I must try to make both of them! Thanks so very much for sharing with us.
Did you see on the Facebook page I posted both colour combos with both techniques so you can see how they come out?

Can’t wait to try this and I must get some distress paper. Thanks for the ideas!

WOW! I am in love with these ideas you have shared. Butterflies are my favorite. The 1st card is my favorite & I love how vibrant the colors are. I have distress inks & have always been so nervous to make a mistake so I never really let myself just play & explore. I recently purchased the distress oxide inks & I’m in love with them! This time around I am just playing & having a blast with the color combos. I cant wait to try the distress paper to see if it makes a difference. The tutorials were fantastic & I can’t wait to try so many new to me techniques & ideas. The doily was such a wonderful idea. My favorite tips were the barber brush & the craft sheet to help keep the Misti clean. Looking forward to more videos & techniques. Thank you so much for sharing & Best of Luck with your new endeavors. Happy Crafting!! ☺☉
