Hi Hollowers!
Welcome back to this very special week. if you saw our Facebook live yesterday you will know that we have some more companies wanting to work with the Hollow and our launch will continue into next week! Today i’m ex-tactic to tell you that I am now working with Dick Blick, I have been a customer of theirs for over ten years, they are my go-to store for Copics and paper supplies, they have the best paper selection around. Speaking of which I have a pad of my favorite watercolor paper from them to give away to you! As always, just leave a comment below telling me what your favorite color is; entries close at midnight EST March 9th 2017.
Many of you asked for me to show you more coloring techniques so I knew this was the perfect opportunity to show you Copic Markers, Copics are an alcohol based marker and having tried many other (including Spectrum Noir and Prismacolors) Copics are my firm favorite as the best in the industry. They also have the best glitter pens called Spica, they have color or clear and each have glass in them to make them as shimmery as possible. (click Copic or Spica to be taken to the selection or use the link up below).
I also have two great Dick Blick codes for you, use ‘CEFZ’ for free shipping over $59 and even better 10% off $99; stock up on paper, pens and all your supplies as this is a very limited offer. I also have ‘19034’ for 40% off any one item (restrictions apply) valid until March 13th. The stamps and ink we use today are from Simon Says Stamp who still has ‘LEAP’ for $5 off any size order! Here’s is today’s project:
Today I am reviving my ToolTurial series, this is lesson 1 in Copics and there will be a lesson 2 & 3 tomorrow. We even have a fun new graphic for you…
In today’s lesson we go through what a Copic marker is, what the three different types are (original, sketch and ciao); I also run through paper and ink, as well as what the blender pen is for adn what do all those letters and numbers really mean? We will do some basic coloring; so we will be ready to build on our skills tomorrow.
Finally I will show you the Copic reference card I keep hung next to my markers which I would highly recommend:
Before we get started with the video I promised ot let you know a list of today’s colors: BV01, V25, RV04, RV63, FV2 & YG09. Now you can color along too:
If you don’t have any Copic’s or you just want to add to your collection, or maybe you want to try out those Spica pens, here are all the links you need, don’t forget the coupon codes above too!
Thanks for stopping by and following along our new journey,
Happy Stamping!
My favorite color is purple! To me it’s just a happy color! Looking forward to watching your Copics tutorials!
Two more tomorrow! Stay tuned!
I love the lilac bv00 on the vellum
I love purple – it’s a happy color with so many shades.
I love pink. I hardly ever use it but it is my favorite color.
Me too!
I know lots of purple people!
Have two favourite colours…orange and lime green. Love to wear these colours and to make cards with them.
What a lovely bright combination
I love any shade of blue.
Thank you for explaining about the Copics, and the other markers, and Dick Blick! I have never been there, or ordered from them.
They are a great store, always had excellent service form them so happy to recommend!
My favorite colors are pink and teal. I just find these colors are so happy.
I’m a pink girl too and I keep finding myself choosing teal for the house!
oh, YAY!!! I just LOVE Copic markers!!
Me too!
Hmmmm… that’s a hard one.. I love so many colors.. I would probably say turquoise if I had to name one.. Close second green.. Great video.. I love my copics, but definitely need to practice more..
They are one of those things that just require lots of practise to get the right blending
Heard so much about Copics but the stores in my area do not have them. So happy to learn about Dick Blick!
I have shopped with them for over 10 years so I am always happy to recommend a store I go back to again and again
You’re never too old to love pink! My favorite color.
Mine too!
My favourite colour is teal, and aqua. Great video. Thanks.
I’m a pink girl but I seem to be choosing lots of teal for the house
I gravitate towards shades of pink! Excellent intro to Copics. I have none …. yet 🙂
Im a pink girl too!
I have not ventured into Copics yet. So much to learn! I liked the way you used tape for the bacground frame and the use of the ombre pad. I don’t have any of those either! Loved the bright happy colors you used. I also appreciate that you explained the type of ink to use for stamping the image and the type of paper to use. Saves on experimenting and finding out by error you need different supplies.
So glad to help you get started; stay tuned for more copic tips
I have never used stamps that I colour with markers. Copic would be a good place to start. Interesting videos. I am learning lots every day.
Copics are a great place to start in alcohol markers, we have so many more ideas to bring you with them too
I like the purple
Some of the copics purples are beautiful
I just LOVE Copic markers! BG 57 is my favorite go to color. But any shade in the blue greens will do.
They do have some lovely BG’s
I love many shades of blue and purple! BTW, I love your blog and live posts on Facebook❤
Stay tuned for tomorrow I have an ombre pad in that exact combo!
The colors you picked out are all lovely, but I am drawn to the light pink and light purple. I am so looking forward to seeing more blending techniques using your Copics! Also, could you show the Spica colors up closer to the camera? I couldn’t really see the shimmer in the little swatches. Do these compare to a Wink of Stella type pen? One thing I really loved was how you taped off the edges to create the illusion of another layer. I’m definitely going to try that!
I will do a video on Spicas overall, this was just an overview, they are more sparkly than a wink of stella and in my opinion much nicer as they dont make colours run
I love pink!! I’m so excited to watch all of your fabulous videos! Hedgehogs are one of my most favorite creatures!!
I’m a pink and hedgehog girl too!
I need to get Copic markers thanks for the info

Hi again
Well I tried to order a bigger box iof copic markets but code 19034 did not give me 40% off one item
And where do I put you name?
Sheri
Since the code LEAP didn’t work for me yesterday I thought I would try the code 19034 on Dick Blick after I saw this post, it was not recognized. Alexandra, you might want to check your affiliate links. Since this is new, perhaps something isn’t working quite right. 🙂
Both, I have emailed you both individually about this and will have an announcement on todays live and blog post, I am very sorry they have not honored the coupon as they knew it was a feature for the post, please check you inboxes for a token of appreciation from me to apologize and stay tuned for some alternatives.

Purple all the way it’s a happy and calming colour to me!!
Seems to very popular, more so than pink!
I’ve been wanting to try alcohol based markers but having difficulty deciding between copics and a less expensive alternative. I really love pinks, purples, and would need greys.
I would get less copics than more of a cheaper version, I really think they are worth the money and the last and last!
I like shades of pink. I do not have any Copic markers yet. There so many to choose from. What would be a greater starter?
I would start with a few fusion sets or these I have linked each one
