Hello! It’s Jill from Jill Cameron Creations with an easy Distress Oxide Rainbow background card using the March kit from The Hedgehog Hollow! The March kit is full of crafty themed goodness! Check out how I used the new stamps and several other new products to create this super cute card.

All products used are linked at the bottom of this post.

Now I love the look of Distress Ink and Distress Oxide Ink. While the colors are the same in both lines, the results are very different. I wanted the soft velvety look of the Oxide line. I used the domed blending pads from Scrapbook(dot)com to blend each color onto Neenah Solar White cardstock. To create the rainbow background I used Candied Apple, Carved Pumpkin, Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn. Peacock Feathers, and Wilted Violet.

There’s a very important step that’s not included in the video: dry the ink blended panel before you heat emboss! Use a heat tool or allow it to air dry for a really long time. To test to see if the panel is dry, sprinkle with embossing powder and see if it sticks. Any embossing powder that sticks can be removed with a simple sweep of a brush or your finger.

The March kit has these stitched lines that are super cute! I paired the lines with the ruler stamp to finish off the background. I heat embossed the lines and ruler in black embossing powder. Don’t forget to use an antistatic powder tool before stamping your images. If you don’t have black embossing powder, you can use black pigment ink and clear embossing powder.

I stamped the sentiment and the needle image in regular black ink. Then I used my Silhouette Cameo and PixScan mat to create die cuts. (Here’s the link I mentioned in the video.)

I used some new products from Tim Holtz too! The new Distress Embossing Pen and Distress Glaze. I used the Distress Glaze on the needle image. It’s just like embossing powder except it’s transparent. I can’t wait to use more of that. But I think the Distress Embossing pen is my new best friend. Just color in the area and add embossing powder. So cool and perfect for the sentiment!

To finish this off I popped up the sentiment with some foam tape. I hope you enjoyed today’s cute card and don’t forget to head over to the shop and get your monthly kit today!
