Hi there Hollowers! Thanks for joining me as I create another card using the November Subscription Box. For today’s distressed Christmas card, I am using the pretty 6×6 pattern paper in the box. There are so many different patterns along with some super cute snowmen. Who doesn’t love a good snowman?!
To start this card, I chose six different pattern paper pieces to have a variety of different patterns to work with. Out of those six patterns, I chose three to foil in silver. I placed the foil over a small area of the pattern paper. Then, I ran the foil sandwich through my Mini Minc. If you have a laminator, that works just as well. After my pieces were foiled, I cut down all six pattern papers to 2 x 1 ¾. It’s the perfect size to fit all six pieces on 4 ¼ x 5 ½ piece of white Hammermill cardstock.
I wanted to distress the squares, and I did this by using a finger dauber and some Ranger Archival Ink in Coffee. I also used a Ranger Paper Distresser, then used both of these on the pattern paper’s edges to give a worn, vintage look. Next, I adhered all six pieces of pattern paper to the Hammermill cardstock using liquid adhesive.
For the card’s focal point, I used some white glitter paper and cut out a few snowflakes dies from my stash. I also silver foiled a DIY sentiment strip to add to the card. All of these pieces were adhered using liquid glue. To finish the card, I used a good amount of Dina Wakely white acrylic spray and made a whole lot of splatter. I also added a piece of blue and white twine, and a few drops of Nuvo white gloss drops.
And that’s it! Another quick and easy distressed Christmas card ready to put in the mail!
I’d love to see your projects using this Subscription Box. You can post them on The Hedgehog Hollow Box Facebook group as well as Stamping at the Hedgehog Hollow Facebook group.
Until next week, take care!
Hi, Jennifer, what a cute card idea! I love the soft blue colors. Can you tell me how you put the foil on the cardstock? Did you use double-sided adhesive or glue? I thought you had to have laser ink on cardstock that you foil in a laminator.? Thanks for sharing your card! Martha
Hi Martha! Thank you, I’m so happy that you like the card! The pattern paper is ready to be foiled without any glue or adhesive. All I did was place the foil over the cardstock and ran it through my Mini Minc machine (or if you use a laminator that would work as well). I’m thinking the paper was probably printed with a laser printer but instead of using black ink, colored was used – which kind of throws us off because usually we think of the black laser ink for heat foiling. I hope this helps!
Thank you for your quick reply!! I will do some research on the papers I have!!
