All my holiday cards so far have been in traditional holiday colors. I have been loving the Telephone Box and Everglades color combination with the Maker Forte Color Hive inks.

Today I decided to do a couple of cards using the November subscription box and non-traditional color combinations.

Since I wanted to use the corner stencils that came in the kit, I created a card using the Baby It’s Cold Outside stamp set with the candy cane stencil. I started with a 5-1/2 x 6″ card base to fit all the pieces.

First, I placed the stencil and sentiment down to get an idea of where I wanted to stamp the small snowflake stamps. I stamped them around the stencil to create my own background. The snowflakes were heat embossed in white.

Next I ink blended on some Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick distress oxide inks over the stencil and embossed snowflakes. I love this technique because the images just pop off the paper!

The sentiment is heat embossed in white on blue. I added some Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean distress oxide ink to the sentiment panel to bring out the sentiment more.

I added some Crown Jewel Gems in Neon Rah Rah Skirt and Vegas Strip to complete the card.

For the second card, I ink blended Brushed Corduroy and Scattered Straw over the gingerbread stencil. I stamped the sentiment in dark brown and added splatters in brown and white.

This was a quick card that I created just to see how pretty this stencil looked!
