Hello! It’s Kari VanNoy. I am so happy to share another card idea with the August 2019 kit. Today I have a technique on filling a card with florals FAST using no masking!
This is a technique I love and have used for years with great results. Let’s be honest: sometimes as cardmakers we need a fast card and have no time (or patience) for creating multiple masks. So if that sounds like you, you’re going to love this! I created this card in under 20 minutes (which is fast for me!)
To make things easy, I have a video showing you this technique using embossing powders and inks to get this card done quickly. Watch it below or on YouTube:
To summarize this technique, I first embossed one flower with gold embossing powder. I heat set that flower, then stamped another flower overlapping the first one just a little. Before heat setting that second flower, brush off the overlapping embossing powder so it appears like it’s behind the first one. Continue on in this manner until the entire panel is filled!
To color up the flowers quickly, I took a finger dauber and some inks and added color (with darker color in the center). This creates a more painterly look to your card.
For the background, I used a green prismacolor pencil to lightly add color. The idea was to make it look like leaves…but you could choose any other color to fit your color scheme.
To finish it off, I stamped the “Just Because” sentiment from the kit onto white Neenah Solar White paper with black ink. I fussy cut it and popped it up using foam dots. I added some clear droplets and the card is done!
See you next time with some more inspiration!
