Hello!  This is Jill from Jill Cameron Creations with a beautiful card using the January kit from The Hedgehog Hollow!  We are going to fake a watercolor look and do some actual watercoloring today. As always, the links to the products used are at the bottom of this post.  Let’s jump in!

This month’s kit includes a fantastic background stamp that imitates a watercolor background.  It’s the perfect size for the large sentiment, “I love you to the moon and back.”  For the first card, I started with the sentiment stamp.  I embossed it using white embossing powder on watercolor paper.  The magic happens when you add watercolor – I used the wet-on-wet method to get started.  Using my Distress Sprayer, I wet my watercolor paper.  Then I dropped color all over the image.  The secret to this is drying between each layer of color.

You can see all of the different layers of colors here.  I added darker watercolors in areas around the sentiment so it would stand out more.  Of course, you can add as much or as little color as you want to add.  To finish off this card, I added star confetti in two sizes.

For the second card, I used the background stamp and a Scrapbook.com Hybrid Inkpad in an amazing dark purple color.  I still used watercolor paper for the texture.  Then, I spattered the entire background using black acrylic paint, Copic Opaque White, and Perfect Pearls.  In the video, I heat embossed the sentiment using silver embossing powder, but it did not photograph well at all, so I went back and did a double layer heat embossed sentiment.

Did you know you can layer different colors of embossing powder?  I heat embossed the sentiment in black first then offset the panel just slightly.  Then, I heat embossed the sentiment in silver.  And I loved it even more!!  To finish off this card, I add clear gems all over the place.  There’s so much sparkle and shine that you just can’t get in a photo!

I love both of these cards!  Don’t forget to head over to the shop to get your kit right now!
