Fun with Critter Cards – Hedgehog Hollow

Hello everyone, I am so excited to be Guest Designing for Hedgehog Hollow this month! I have some adorable Critter Cards to share with you today.

Hedgehog Hollow released an adorable Subscription Box called Woodland Animals. To view the Subscription Box, click here. It’s filled with Critters and catchy phrases! I’m usually not good with designing Critter Cards. But, I found my own style, and I hope you will like what I’ve done!

My first Critter Card uses the Forest Friends6x8 stamp and Tree stencil from the kit. I wanted to create a unique scene, so I masked off a circle on my card base and did some ink blending with Catherine Pooler inks in Grass Skirt, and It’s a Boy. Then I sprayed water over it. Can you see the watermarks below? It’s so cool!

Next, I placed my Tree stencil over the inked area, blended Nuvo Crackle Mousse with a Distress ink refill in Vintage Photo, and applied the paste mixture over the stencil. While it was drying, I colored the Owl Critter and then fussy cut her, balancing her on one of the tree branches and finishing up with that catchy sentiment!

For card #2, I used the cutie-pie Moose Critter from Forest Friends and Animal Greetings stamp set from the kit. I also used the Slimline Splashes stamp from Maker Forte to create a subtle backdrop behind Mr. Moose.

After coloring Mr. Moose, I placed green foliage around him, so he looked like he was grazing in a field, and finished with that adorable sentiment! These sentiments crack me up!

For my final card, I used the cute bear buddies from Forest Friends and Animal Greetings. I wanted to create a focal point on the top 3rd of my card, so I masked off an area and did some ink blending using Catherine Pooler inks in Tiki Torch, Tiara, and Orange Twist, again spraying it with water to get a cool look!

I placed washi tape over the edge of the ink blended area and stamped the sentiment below with one acorn next to it. Before I adhered my bear buddies, I added green foliage behind to ground them on the card.

I really enjoyed the challenge of creating Fun Critter Cards in unique ways, and I hope that you feel inspired to play with them as well! There are numerous ways to use Critters! To visit the Hedgehog Hollow shop, click here. To visit my Instagram account, click here.
