If you are anything like me, you have a few card layouts that you use often. I have two of my “go to” layouts that I want to share with you today and some special details that I added to my cards to take the from nice to WOW!
For my share today, I am using the May Hedgehog Hollow Subscription Box to create two cards and a bookmark to tuck inside a card for my sister.
This is one of my favorite go to layouts. I mask off a strip of the card front and ink blend on either one or multiple colors. Then I stamp my images on top of that in black. Sometimes I create the strip vertically and sometimes horizontally as I have here.
I used the new Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide ink here and I think it looks amazing with the black Color Hive ink. The biggest problem I had was selecting a sentiment. The sentiments in this kit are all amazing!
I added some Vegas Strip Crown Jewel Gems and then I did some foiling with the new Maker Forte Deco Foil Sunrise Lake and the ephemera included in the pack. This just made the card feel much more special to me. There is something about sparkle and shine. I love a metallic detail on a card.
My intention was to stamp in white on a black card base for my second card. I knew I wanted to create a background using all of the instruments and musical symbols. Somewhere along the way, I decided to add some Neptune Kaleidoscope Powder and that was a WOW! moment. It is such a lovely color. I got lucky and found a piece of textured specialty paper in my stash that had an iridescent sheen that matched the powder. Score!
My sentiment is stamped on vellum with the Color Hive Eclipse Black ink. Make sure you give this a couple of minutes to dry because it is dye ink.
Another WOW detail for me was the foiled ephemera. This is the Maker Forte Deco Foil in Moon-lit Lake. I just love this detail!
Next, I created two bookmarks on paper cut at 2-1/2 x 5-1/2″. This was so I could remind all of us that solid stamps can be stamped in colors other than black ink! I added a yellow ribbon and some yellow ink to the edge of the bookmark. Yet again, the fun detail of the foiled ephemera really makes for a very special finishing detail here.
These were very quick projects to make, but so much fun because I got to use a variety of special materials to add fun details to them.
