Hi, Gemma (inkygems) here with my very first post on the Hedgehog Hollows blog. I have made a Gone Fishing Father’s day card to share with you all, using the April Subscription box. This box is filled with beautiful masculine stamps and stencils, for all those male themed cards. I often struggle with cards for the men in my life, so it’s great to have a set with so many options all in one place.
I started by cutting all my card stock to fit my card blank, which is a 15 x 15 cm (6 inches) square card. Then I stamped and heat embossed the fishing stamp with black embossing powder so it sat in the top 3rd of the card. I quiet like the imperfections that extra specks of embossing powder can give you, but if you don’t dust your card with an anti static bag for a clean speck free look.
Next add a layer of Distress Oxide ink, from just under the second straight line on the stamped image to the bottom of the card. Then activate it with a very generous spray of water for a simple and effective water look. Make sure to dry this layer completely, being careful not to over heat the embossing powder.
Once the ink is dry, lay the fish stencil over the top and apply ink. Depending on the color of ink chosen, a couple of layers might be needed to build up the color. To finish stamp the Father’s day sentiment in the space under the boat. Then doodle around the stenciled fishes adding some extra doodles for extra interest.
I hope you like my Gone Fishing Father’s Day card using Aprils subscription box. You can find the information on the subscription boxes here
