Hello!  It’s Jill of Jill Cameron Creations here with my first project from the October Hedgehog Hollow Subscription kit!  This month’s kit is so cute and interactive (that part will be in another project later on)!

Today, I’m focusing on the stencil that’s included in the kit.  There are snowflakes, trees, reindeer, and a few other images included on the stencil.  I love using stencils because I can quickly add texture or color to my project.

I used Nuvo Glimmer Paste and the snowflake images to create a background for my snowman.  I didn’t want the snowflakes to cover the entire background and I didn’t want to add more paper to this card.  Enter masking paper.  I die cut a circle from some masking paper and placed it where I wanted an empty circle on my cardstock panel.

I typically don’t tape my paper and stencil down to anything. Instead, I use washi tape to tape my paper to the backside of the stencil.  This allows me to move and turn the project with ease.

Then, using a pallet knife I spread Nuvo Glimmer Paste over the surface.  This stuff dries pretty quickly so wash your stencil and the pallet knife immediately.  Don’t wait, just go wash it!

You’ll also want to remove the mask as soon as possible or the masking paper will be stuck at the edges.  Just be careful and go slow.

To finish up this cute little card I colored and fussy cut the snowman with his hat.  I also stamped a sentiment in Versamark ink and heat embossing it with Hero Arts White Detail Embossing Powder.

I hope you enjoyed this quick card using masking for your stencils.  Be sure to head over to the Hedgehog Hollow shop and pick up your October kit today!
