Hello everyone! My name is Koren Wiskman and I’m honored to be a guest designer here for Inktoberfest!

I was sent the Nuvo Hybrid Inks to review and to create a project that might inspire all of you readers to create. I’ve always been partial to pigment inks, so, having an opportunity to play with some new hybrid inks was an easy decision to make! I simply loved using these inks.  They seemed to have a great drying and working time, and were well covering.

I drew my inspiration for this card by looking outside our home… It’s Autumn here where we live, and the leaves are beginning to turn colors , and fall to the ground.  This is a great time here to be a kid.  Yes, raking leaves is a chore, but jumping into a big dry pile of leaves while you’re doing it, is a blast!  Anyway, enough with the nostalgia… lets get to making this card!

I began with a piece of Canson XL watercolor paper and ink blended my background using Nuvo Spanish Sangria, Nuvo Acorn Brown and a Nuvo blender brush.  Then I cut it down to 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″, centering the blended area, so that the lightest area was in the middle of the card.  To thicken and secure the background, I used double-sided adhesive and attached my background to a piece of chip board, then used the Nuvo Clear Mark embossing ink pad to get some sticky ink along the perimeter of my image, coated it generously with embossing powder, and set it with my heat tool.  This step was repeated a few times, but man, that gold edge is certainly worth the effort!

The leaves were created by ink-blending SEVERAL combinations of Nuvo Inks (all linked below) onto several pieces of Bristol White cardstock.  This gave me a color gradient, reminiscent of leaves making their annual autumn appearance in spectacular fashion.  To enhance this effect, I used a paint splatter technique to broadcast some gold paint across those sheets of ink blended cardstock.  I then used a leaf-shaped punch to cut my beautiful cardstock into these magnificent leaves.  I assembled the leaves into a pile that looks ready to be jumped in, and adhered them in place using glue dots and foam tape to assign each leaf some dimension.  The sentiment was created using the same embossing powder that I used on the perimeter, and it was cut with a coordinating die to size.  I used some foam tape to secure it, just under the leaves.

I attached my panel to a gray card base, and called this one done!  I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!  Please see the links below to get a good look at all of the products used to make this card, and please be sure to check out my video- showing all the fun that I had while making this card, which is also linked below.
