It’s Jenny here, and today I’ve got a card for you that uses peacock feathers as inspiration for my colors on my card, in a similar way to Amber recently, but with a different twist.
I’m using the GORGEOUS September Hedgehog Hollow subscription box which has beautiful feathers and peacock stamps. I wanted to use peacock feathers colors as inspiration but leave the actual feathers themselves monochromatic.
I first created a background by repeat stamping the feathers in basic black ink – I used Nuvo Hybrid Black Shadow ink, all over a panel of white cardstock. I used my MISTI to do this as it saves a lot of time, and I only had to do two stampings. I also added a little texture to the panel with some black ink spatters.
I die cut the panel with the Hedgehog Hollow Sweet die, making sure to save the little pieces, and also die cut it from white cardstock twice. I then used Distress Oxides in Cracked Pistachio, Wilted Violet and Blueprint Sketch to blend over the Sweet die cut word. I covered a white cardbase in adhesive and then adhered the die cut panel and one of the Sweet die cuts in place, adding in the little pieces from the panel that I’d saved. I then adhered the ink blended piece over the top.
For some extra sparkle, I flicked on the Nuvo Shimmer Pen in Midas Touch )(don’t I do that alllll the time!!) lol!
The “Have Fun!” sentiment is from the same stamp set and was heat embossed in WOW! Bright White Opaque embossing powder onto some of the Navy cardstock in the box, and popped up on foam tape. For some bling, I added the gorgeous iridescent bubbles (Studio Katia) into the feather centres and in a few places around the card. Just love how ‘peacocky’ those colors are!
I hope you’ve enjoyed this – I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
