Hi there Hollowers! I’m excited to be sharing my first project with you as one of the new design team members for Hedgehog Hollow! I am also excited to be sharing the September Subscription Box, which is fabulous! But, then again, aren’t they all fabulous? Head on over to subscribe by clicking the link above. There are several subscription box options ranging from “let me just get my feet wet” all the way to “I’m jumping in, sign me up for the year!”.
Today I will be using the rose stencil, the sentiment set, the 6×8 sugar skull stamp set and the sugar skull die from the subscription box. Although I kept the sugar skulls pretty laid back for this card, I have so many ideas for them and I can’t wait to share more with you throughout the month.
I started creating this card by taking a piece of Hammermill 110 lb paper cut down to 4 ¼ x 5 ½. Next, I grabbed the rose stencil and secured it with some painters tape. I then grabbed two Catherine Pooler inks, Party Dress and Be Mine. I used the Party Dress ink in the center of the rose and the Be Mine ink toward the edges. I finished this off with a light pink colored pencil just to add a little more detail.
I set my rose panel aside and stamped two sugar skull images using VersaMark embossing ink and then embossed in gold. I then took the other sugar skull image and inked and embossed just the eyes. One of the images was then cut with the outline die and the other with the detail die. The eye portion was cut using the detail die. The detail and the outline die cuts were then glued together to create one layered die piece.
To finish off this card, I trimmed the rose panel down and then matted that onto a 4 ¼ x 5 ½ piece of black cardstock. I added a little bit of black ink splatter and then the sugar skull die was glued to my panel along with the decorative eye portions. To finish off the card, I added the sentiment ‘Celebration’ as well as a few fun, sparkly enamel dots.
I hope you enjoyed this quick tutorial! If you’d like to see all of the steps in action, please stop by my YouTube channel where you can view the entire process.
Thank you so much for joining me today! I look forward to seeing your creations! Don’t forget that you can share them on The Hedgehog Hollow Box Facebook group as well as Stamping at the Hedgehog Hollow Facebook group.
Until next time, take care!
