It’s Karen sharing a Love Altered Brush that I created with the December Kit. I absolutely love versatile products that easily coordinate with my stash. I was able to use the Love background and heart stamps from the December kit. I coordinated the stamps with shimmer powder, flowers, leaves, heart pins, clear pebbles, gesso, and ribbon. Take a peek at my super easy steps below.
I began this project by covering a 2-inch paintbrush with gesso. I added two coats of gesso to provide a perfect foundation for additional mixed media elements and then set the brush aside to dry.
Next, after the brush was dry, I tapped on some Nuvo Shimmer Powder (Catherine Wheel) and sprayed water onto the brush to create this fun watercolor effect. I propped the brush up to drain and dry. The colors in the shimmer powder really added such artistic flair.
Using black ink, I stamped the love background and mini hearts onto the brush, and heat set the brush to dry. I love the fun element that the stamps added to this brush.
Next, I adhered flowers, leaves, beaded pins, heart pins, and ribbon bows to the brush using hot glue.
Lastly, I tapped on some gesso to enhance the overall design.
I really enjoyed how this project turned out. I hope that you did too.
