Hello, friends! Kari here again with a fun card using supplies from the March Kit! How many of you remember making (or receiving) Mixed Tapes? I’m throwing it way back with this fun card.
There are so many fun stamps in this kit…and that cassette tape really jumped out at me. Does anyone still have a cassette tape player? I have to admit, I STILL have some of my favorite mixed tapes. I can’t believe it, either! They are from the ’80s and ’90s…so it’s probably time to let them go, right? But this stamp really made me happy.
I started by inking the background with two colors of Distress Inks: Salty Ocean and Faded Jeans. I used a sunburst stencil and inked it with the lighter color, then shifted the stencil to ink with the darker color.
Then I colored up the cassette tape and the “rad heart” with Copic Markers. I used minimal markers for this one, and I tried to keep the colors in a masculine color scheme but still bright & happy. The colors I used are Y00, Y06, Y08, YG05, B00, and B000. I also used some cool grays for the label.
After I colored up the tape, I fussy cut and added it to the inked background with 2 layers of foam tape. I had these music notes dies in my stash, and I cut them from black cardstock. I glued them down around the cassette and added the rad heart.
I finished it off with some inking around the edges and some glossy accents on the little hearts on the cassette tape.
I hope you enjoyed this project! And now I need to go listen to my mixtapes. I’m betting the sound quality is not as great as I remember! I’ll see you next week with more card inspiration from the Kit.
