HI, Hollowers! We’re making sparkle moon & stars embossed backgrounds today with stamps from The Hedgehog Hollow January subscription box. This box is full of images perfect for celestial focal points and backgrounds.
YouTube Tutorial | Moon & Stars Embossed Backgrounds
I left a mistake in this video so you could see how I fixed it and salvaged the card. Watch here or in HD on YouTube.
For the first card, I used 3 different star stamps to create a background pattern. I stamped and heat embossed one at a time to ensure images didn’t overlap. WOW! Metallic Gold Sparkle and Metalline Himalayan Musk embossing powders created a beautiful high-contrast color palette.
After embossing was complete, I trimmed 1/8 inch off the top and bottom of the card front and glued on strips Curious Metallic Gold Leaf cardstock. I also stamped a sentiment from the set on a strip of Gold Leaf cardstock.
Embossed Resist Moons
Next, I choose an ink blended card front from my stash of extra backgrounds. Do you have a stack of these? They definitely come in handy. The panel was ink blended with Altenew Azurite, Purple Wine, and Orange Cream inks.
I started by stamping a pattern on the ink blended background with embossing ink. I thought it would create enough of a resist, but ultimately it was too subtle. So I restamped the background, clear heat embossed it, and ink blended again.
Because the embossing ink is clear and difficult to see, my images were not aligned perfectly. As a result, you can see ghosts of the original images behind the heat embossed images.
Next, I stamped the moon lantern image and sentiment on vellum with Staz-On Pigment Ink in Piano Black. This stamps beautifully on vellum and dries quickly. It also doesn’t have the same strong odor like the original Staz-On.
That’s all for today. Thanks for stopping by. Let me know what you think down below and I’ll see you soon with more inspiration.
