Hi Hollowers!

If you haven’t been to the hollow before then welcome; I hope you will take a look around; we are currently in a 30 day run of the new annual catalog with lots of videos of how to make samples from the gorgeous new catalog!  In a break from my normal programming of catalog samples I am showcasing a card today I have made for my husband; we are going to be in America for the next 3 weeks and we give each other a few cards to open when we have had a bad day or really missing each other! It’s a tradition we have had since we were teenagers and whilst we don’t do one for every day we do enough to open 2 a week.  This is one of mine for him on this trip…

This trip will be even harder as it is our first wedding anniversary while we are apart; we are trying to meet up over 4th July weekend but just in case I have put extra effort into this batch of cards; I will be sharing all of them with you in the coming weeks (some are from my June video series too).  I just loved this weather together bundle from the moment I saw the catalog; I have so many ideas for it and on this card I went all out with a shaker and a 3D umbrella.  I made the umbrella by stamping and cutting 5 umbrellas total; I used each of the new 5 in-colours.  I alternated the spotted and striped stamps; folding each in half and sticking to the next one.  I have so many ideas with this set that there will be a video tutorial at some point and I will show you how step by step.   Of course you also need to know about the shaker; I used the metallic sequins but took out the black ones as I didn’t want any stormy clouds!  I just love shakers and one of my videos next week will be on a shaker sample from the catalog so I hope you’ll check back for that one  You can subscribe on the right sidebar (or sometimes it jumps to the bottom when it’s not behaving)! You can also follow on Facebook to get all the latest posts (www.facebook.com/hedgehoghollowblog).  Also, some of you said you couldn’t comment last time, you need to go into the post (click the red header at the top of the post) and them you will be able to leave a comment!  Sorry I digress, back to the shaker; these were little clouds of love don’t you just love them?

What else do you need to know?  This is a 6″ square card; I used half a sheet of kraft 12×12; I then used the gold foil sprinkles DSP from the pop of pink pack as I thought it looked like golden raindrops (ever the sentimentalist!);  make sure you rub the window sheet well with the embossing buddy to remove static; this makes sure your sequins shake and don’t stick.  Also I dived the shaker into two halves so the top two and bottom two clouds are separated with a piece of foam strip ; this gives you a more even shaker on a long card.  The Love is stamped with black archival and them cut using the banner triple punch.  The umbrella handle is embossed using the heat tool and versa mark (check out my ToolTurial from last week on this…you can search at the bottom if you can’t find it).  I think thats all but you can leave a comment, send me an email (alexandra.stapleton@me.com) or use the contact us button if you need to know anything I haven’t covered.  I hope this close up will show you how to make your own too…

I’ll leave you with a picture of us both at our daughters christening last weekend…
