Hi there Hollowers! Today I am back with another project using the September Subscription Box. Today I will be creating a one-layer card that I have colored with Copic Ciao alcohol markers.
My one-layer card base is a piece of Hammermill 110 lb paper cut down to approximately 4 ¼ x 5 ½. I put my card base into my stamping platform and arranged the five little skulls in a circular pattern. Since I am using alcohol markers to color my images, I stamped them up with Memento black ink.
Next, I wanted to add the Hibiscus flower stamp behind four of the skulls, so I had to do a little stamp masking. To mask my image, I used some all over sticky Post It Notes. If you didn’t already know, masking is essentially hiding an image so that you can stamp over it. Which image you stamp first depends on which image you want in the front of other images. For example, I knew I wanted the skull to be in front of the flowers, and so I stamped the skull first, masked it off, and then stamped the flower image. This makes it look like the flower is behind the skull. Voila! I repeated this process with all but the center skull.
Coloring with Copics
Next, I colored up all of the images with Copic Ciao alcohol markers. The background was looking a little too blah, so I grabbed the beautiful rose stencil, masked off my images again, and ink blended the stencil on the card’s top and bottom. I finished the card off by adding the sentiment and some sequins.
Until next time, take care!
