Working on a “refreshing” card for sending out this summer. I started with the Hedgehog Hollow Pineapple 3-layer Stencil Set and the Fruit Salad 3-layer Stencil Set. For those that are familiar with my work you know I am all about the background. I added what I normally would make my background to the body of the pineapple.

I started by stamping the fruit from the ‘Farmers Market’ Stamp Set. I colored the pieces using Copic markers. These were then cut out.

Due to the size of the pineapple I realized that a Slimline card would be the end result. I cut a layer one for a Slimline card out of white card stock. I used repositional tape and placed the pineapple stencil onto the layer. Through the stencil I used the Fruit Salad 3-layer stencil creating a pleasing fruit covered pineapple. I masked off the pineapple leaves so I did not stencil fruit onto them. Next I stenciled the leaves of the pineapple to create the two toned leaves. The next step was to use the pineapple mask to color the background around the pineapple. This I did by blending ink over it.

I now decided that I wanted an additional layer to be between the card front and the white card base. This I cut in white and inked the edges in a goldish yellow. This layer was cut a quarter inch larger then the card front. To add a bit more interest I splattered black paint to the card layers after glueing them together.

Finally I stamped the sentiment on a square and used foam tape to attach. The fruit slices were arranged and attached either flat or with foam tape to add dimension to the card front. A few sequins and the card is finished.
