Hi everyone! It’s Lindsay here, from the Crafting While Caffeinated Blog & YouTube Channel. I have a few cards to share with you using the June Kit from The Hedgehog Hollow. Both cards are really easy and only take a few minutes to make, which is my favorite kind of card! Keep reading below to see exactly how I put each card together.
My first card was most definitely inspired by the inside of a previous card of mine. If you didn’t see that video tutorial be sure to head over to my YouTube Channel to check it out! It’s all about altering and embellishing patterned paper!
Back to today’s card. I wanted to pull out the wave stamp from the “It’s All in the Waves” stamp set included in the kit and create a very simple scene. I started by stamping just the crashing wave on a white cardstock panel with a lighter blue ink. Then, after masking off that stamp, I stamped a few curling waves behind it with a darker blue ink. SUPER simple!
After stamping a sentiment, that came from the “Just Keep Swimming” set, I knew this card still needed something more. I grabbed my Snow Marker (no, it’s not just for winter), and added the marker to the bottom of the crashing wave. The marker is a liquid when it first comes out, so it mixed a bit with the blue ink, but I love the look it gives! After heat setting, you are left with some awesome dimension and a realistic-looking foam!!
My second card’s inspiration came from a few different places. Not only did it come from the inside of another card I previously made, but also the color combination (which I pulled from Pinterest)! Color combinations are not my strongest ability, so I love looking at Pinterest for help in that area! I stamped a very graphic background with the shell from the “Just Keep Swimming” set using that color combo; however, I smudged my ink. Can you guess where? In the top right corner. So I needed to figure out a way to fix it.
To fix that mistake, I cut it out with a circle die. Doing this left a great opening to add in the large Zentangle-style fish from the same set! I didn’t add any color because I really wanted to keep it very graphic. I did add a quick sentiment from the same set and matted it with the clear paper that was included in the kit, too!!
I hope you all enjoyed these quick and simple cards and a look at where the inspiration for each one came from! I’ve had so much designing with the June Kit from The Hedgehog Hollow! Happy crafting everyone!!
