Hi Folks, Jenny here, and today I am featuring that giant doodled fish from one of the stamp sets from the June Hedgehog Hollow 2019 box.
I wanted to make this fish a bright rainbow – just like the Rainbow Fish in my three year old daughter’s books (you may be familiar). To create this first card, I heat embossed the fish onto smooth hot press watercolor cardstock in WOW! superfine Metallic Silver embossing powder. I then used my Altenew watercolors to add colors from the rainbow very loosely over the fish. There wasn’t much rhyme or reason to where I put the color, other than to ensure I didn’t have complementary colors next to each other (those opposite each other on a color wheel) as they blend to make a murky brown. When each color was dry, I went back over with the same colors again for a little more texture. I then fussy cut it out the fish.
For my background, I trimmed down a panel of the blue watercolor patterned paper from the box and adhered it to one of the white notecards.
I heat embossed my sentiment in the same Metallic Silver embossing powder onto a scrap of grey cardstock, trimmed it out and then popped it and the fish on foam tape onto the cardbase. To finish the card, I added some iridescent Iris Confetti like bubbles.
For my second card, I stamped the fish directly onto the cardbase using Nuvo Black hybrid ink. I then colored it in with Tombow Dual Brush Markers in rainbow colors, using some light and some darker to add contrast in each of the rainbow sections. This fish is so fun to color in!
I added a little white gel pen to the eye and stamped my sentiment in the same black ink. I also added some gold splatters for texture using my Nuvo pen in Midas Touch. For the bubbles I used the Studio Katia Iridescent Bubbles gemstones (because of course!)
There are so many other ways to create using this fish, have fun!
