Hi Everyone! It’s Jenny here, and I’ve broken out my July 2019 Hedgehog Hollow box! It’s an absolutely beautiful collection of exclusive embossing powders from WOW! and gorgeous stamp sets by the ever amazing Sophia J Caldwell who’s designs I adore.  For the post today, I created two rustic feeling cards, inspired by Sophia’s designs and the embossing powder colors.

There’s a video over on my YouTube channel where I show you the whole process.

My first card is super simple – I just LOVE the Love stamp in the box, and wanted to heat emboss it and let it stand out in its own right.   I chose some rustic cardstock (I’m using Spicy Yoghurt by Altenew which isn’t in the box) and heat embossed the Love stamp using WOW! Embossing ink onto the panel and heat embossed it in the stunning Coppertone Shift embossing powder, before mounting it onto one of the included card bases.

I added an additional sub-sentiment ‘My Hubby’ from the Box stamped in Nuvo Hybrid Black ink.  I didn’t add anything else to this card to keep it rustic and simple.

For my second card, I first created a sketchy watercolor wash background.   I used a panel of hot press watercolor cardstock, and then proceeded to add stripes of watercolor paint.  I used Boku-Undo E-Sumi Watercolors which are similar to Gansai Tambi, and are each a different shade of black.  They create beautiful pale rustic colors quite similar to some of the embossing powders if you add enough water to make them paler.  I then went over the watercolors with some gold Fine-Tec watercolor.

Before the paint dried, I sprinkled on some of the Black & Gold WOW!  Embossing powder from the box and heated it up.  It melts and creates a wonderful textured speckled background.  I trimmed down the cardstock, added grey craft foam at the back then adhered to a white card base from the box.

I stamped the gorgeous butterfly stamp in embossing ink onto vellum and then heat embossed it with the WOW! Plum Shift Craft embossing powder then fussy cut it out. I adhered it directly to the watercolor panel with liquid adhesive so that the wings were lifted off the panel.  I just love this Plum embossing powder and it inspired the colors of my background.

My sentiment from the box was stamped in Nuvo Black Hybrid ink onto white cardstock and trimmed it out.  I slipped it behind the butterfly with a bit of foam tape.

I think the stamps from this box are simply stunning and a perfect combination with the wonderful embossing powders.  I can’t wait to keep playing!
