I just love the Moon & Stars theme from the January Hedgehog Hollow Subscription Box, don’t you? It’s a perfect theme to break out the foil and metallic embossing powders! I have two cards using heat embossing and foil today.
My first card uses the star stencil, along with Deco Foil Transfer Gel. I applied it using a palette knife, rotating the stencil to create a starburst from a focal point. When dry, I ran it through my Minc machine with Decofoil Brutus Monroe Silver Sketch foil. I trimmed the piece down and mounted it onto a dark grey A2 panel, then onto a white notecard.
I stamped the cool geometric star image in embossing ink onto hot pink cardstock and heat embossed with WOW! Metallic Silver embossing powder. I trimmed it out with a circle die that matched, and then ink blended some darker pink ink around the edges for dimension before popping it onto foam tape onto the card.
The sentiment was stamped in the same pink ink (Razzleberry by Altenew) onto white card and trimmed out, and then I popped it up on foam tape. I added a few pink sequins to coordinate with the pink star.
For my second card, I used the panel of patterned white paper from the subscription box. This paper is very cool; it has a pattern impressed upon it that resists the ink. I blended a variety of inks on and then buffed with a microfiber cloth. I also added a few spatters of water to create a distressed look, then trimmed it out and added it onto a white notecard.
I heat embossed the moon stamp in WOW! Metallic Silver onto vellum. I then tore the vellum roughly, pulling towards me to create a distressed edge. I popped it up onto the panel by placing clear foam squares behind the moon. They are hidden by the heat embossing. As a final touch, I heat embossed a sentiment from the box in the same Metallic Silver onto black cardstock and popped it onto foam squares.
I love creating pairs of cards with my subscription box that go together – hope you like them!
