Hi, it’s Karen here, and I wanted to share a quick and easy card you can make in less than 20 mins, while still using lots of different techniques and supplies you will already have in your stash.

I used the card stock that came with the kit and scored down the middle to make my card base. The card stock is quite thick, so there’s no need to add an additional card onto top unless you really want to add dimension.

The large moon image below is one of my favorites from the kit, and I choose to stamp this using Versafine Onyx Black Ink, overlapping the fold line of the card.

All you need is a craft knife, and you can cut around the top half of this image to give added dimension to your card. This is a quick and easy way to add interest to your card.

Have you ever masked [hidden] an area on a card before? I had some inexpensive Post-It® notes that had the full area [not just the top part] nice and sticky. These are a great way to mask off an area. Simply stamp the image again on the Post-It® note, fussy cut around, and overlay the image on the card.  You’re then free to work on the surrounding area without worrying about altering the image you’ve masked.

To create my background, I used Catherine Pooler Inks (see product details below for more information) to blend a background on the card using blending brushes. These inks are so versatile and can be used as watercolors as well as blending inks if you prefer a different finish to your projects.

Once dried (you can speed up with a heat gun), I used an old box to spritz with Kaiser Mist to add a silver sparkle effect to the background. If you don’t have any shimmer spray, you can spray with water to get a similar result. If you have Ranger Perfect Pearls, you can add these to your spray bottle for a DIY shimmer spray effect too!

To finish the inside of the card, I used some tracing paper from my stash to stamp another of the sentiments in the kit. You could also use acetate or any other translucent paper you may have on hand.

This was added to my card front using a vellum glue runner to ensure you couldn’t see the adhesive backing – and I love the effect it gives against the blue background.

There are so many options to decorate the moon. You could emboss, foil, embellish, print on patterned paper, color with Copics, watercolor – use your imagination!  I decided to use colored pencils with Gamsol. I’ll be the first to admit coloring is not my strong point, but Gamsol is very forgiving and a great way to blend those pencil marks with little effect and time.

To add some shimmer and sparkle, I applied some Brea Reese Liquid Glitter to the moon, as well as to the top and bottom of the sentiment strip – who doesn’t love a bit of sparkle?

To personalize the inside of the card, I used one of the many sentiments in the kit. The size of these are perfect for inside of the cards, so don’t forget to use this inside too.

This card would be great to send to a friend – I love the motivational quotes and images; they’re all so versatile.
