What better color combination is there for classic and elegant cards than black, white and gold? The stamps and sentiments in the February Hedgehog Hollow Box are perfect for this. The gorgeous intricate images are perfect stamped on white in simple black ink. Or how about gold heat embossed?
I made these two cards very simply – they come together quickly and you can change up the color combo to suit your mood. For the card on the left, I heat embossed the small flower bouquet in WOW! Metallic Rich Pale Gold Superfine embossing powder on white cardstock, trimmed to 4 x 5.25″. I then splattered black ink (Dylusions) over the panel.
I stamped the ‘Mother’ sentiment over the top with black ink (I used Versafine Onyx Black ink), and then went over the gold areas which resisted the ink with a black sharpie. I mounted the panel onto a white card base, leaving subtle border.
For my other card, I used the same black ink and stamped the large heart. I then dried it and over-stamped the ‘bestie’ sentiment in WOW! Embossing ink. I used a MISTI to stamp, and heat embossed in WOW! Metallic Gold Sparkle embossing powder. I placed it back into my MISTI, restamped with embossing ink, and embossed again. I repeated one more time. This gives a fun raised and dimensional look.
I splattered with Altenew Antique Gold spray, and then to make the ‘bestie’ stand out even more against the heart, I lightly went over with a blender brush and some light gray ink. I then mounted it on card base.
Don’t you just love these sentiments!?
