Hello everyone! This is Jessica Shier and I’m back on the blog with some more inspiration using the August kit. For this one, I thought it would be fun to use some more of the colored cardstock that came in the box, but this time I’m going to stamp and color on one piece to create my own pattern background to color using the Nuvo alcohol markers.
Watch the video here or on Youtube.
I started with the yellow piece of color card stock and I’m using Gina K. Designs Jet Black Amalgam ink (I used my own ink cube but one did come in the box.) This time I’ll be using some of the bud and leaf stamps that came in the Hedgehog Hollow Buds Stamp set. I started with stamping the images I wanted to color with the Nuvo alcohol markers, then added the small solid leaf stamps. For those leaves, I used embossing ink and gold embossing powder to add some shine to this panel.
For the coloring, I used the Nuvo alcohol marker sets that came in the August box. Because I’m using the yellow card stock for the coloring, I used only the feathered gray on the very light areas. A great way to add more depth to your coloring with minimal markers, similar to what I did with the Large Blooms stamp set in my first post. Find that blog post and video here.
Once I had the panel colored, I stamped and embossed several sentiments from the Large Blooms stamp set on black cardstock with Alabaster embossing powder. I wanted to use the vellum that came in this kit also, for that I used a scoreboard and scored the vellum to fit over the top left-hand corner of the yellow panel, which was trimmed down to 4in x 5.25in. The video above shows how to do easily.
After adhering all my cardstock layers together and adding the sentiments over the top of the vellum, I adhered the yellow card stock to piece of light blue card stock (which also came in the kit). Adding in the blue really gave this card a wintery feel to me. Everything is attached to an A2 Neenah Solar White 110lb card base. From stash, I grabbed some gems and drops that have a slight green tint to them and scattered them over the card front using Multi Medium Matte glue.
Thank you so much for joining me today! I hope you enjoyed the video and card design. To see more from me you can follow these social media links. Have a great day!
