The Birdhouse Cubby sentiment, “From our nest to yours”, inspired me to get creative with the birdhouse stamp. Read on to see how I stretched the April 2019 Hedgehog Hollow kit by creating 2 birdhouses from 1 stamp.

Create 2 Birdhouses from 1 Stamp

Knowing that I’d want to pop up the center panel, I started with a piece of white cardstock trimmed to 3.75 x 5.25 inches. I loaded it in my MISTI and started to play around with the arrangement of the birdhouse.

It made the most sense to have the tall birdhouse on the left and the shorter one on the right with enough space to connect the houses with a hand drawn wire. The houses were stamped so that there would be 1 perch on each house.

I drew a line from the perch on the left house down to the roof on the right birdhouse. Inspired by Jenny Colacicco’s sweet and simple card, I decided to keep the birdhouses uncolored. Extending the birdhouse post with a pen and ruler was simple and creates visual interest on the left side of the card.

Coloring the Little Birdies

I colored the birds with 2 different color schemes to represent 2 different families.

Aqua & Orange: Copic Y13, B00, B02, & B04
Yellow & Blue: Altenew Mountain Mist B802, Volcano Lake B714, & Autumn Blaze Y608

Card Assembly

  • Stamp the sentiment
  • Pop up the stamped panel on an included card base
  • Pop up the birds with dimensional adhesive

I love how the wire connects the 2 houses and creates a sense of movement that reinforces the sentiment. I hope you enjoyed this project today and feel inspired to create. Thank you so much for stopping by and I’ll see you soon with more inspiration!
