Hi Hollowers!

I hope you enjoyed our YouTube live this morning, don’t worry if you missed it as it’s posted below too.  You can also subscribe to our YouTube channel, here, to get notified of when we go live (we also let you know ahead of time in our daily facebook live’s too).  Today was about swatching, I recently bought this book from amazon which I have turned into a double side sampler book, its mixed media paper which is great for this as it will take, paints, water, markers, pens, pencils, etc.  I firstly love that I can look up all my pen, pencils and paints during a project to decide which I want to use; secondly I am going to carry it to stores and shows to stop me buying duplicates.  I also let Mr HH know about it so if her is looking for a gift he knows what I have and any gaps that might need filling, win win!  So first of all here is the video I did today…

I reference this video from Kristina Werner which is where she ‘enabled’ me on the Finetec paints and gave me the black strip idea which is amazing!  Now onto the good stuff!  The traditional front of my book is all my different watercolor pallettes, I have all those linked below, but in the video I showed you my new Prima ones, they are so pretty, they looked like candy when they arrived, Greg was quite disappointed! However, he did get a bit snap happy with them…

They also swatch out beautifully, this is the tropicals set and they have such a wonderful intensity…

I swatched out all my palettes and anything I thought may go well on black (or decided it did after a test piece) I added this strip as I reference above to show the differenc ebetween watercolor stock and the black, just to make it easy when i’m mid project.

Then in the back of the book (I turn it over as you see in the video) I have all my pens, pencils and markers, when the markers work well with water, half the swatch is just a squiggle and the rest I use my water pen to show the color post-reaction in case I want to paint with them…

Here are all the products I swatched up…

I hope you find this option useful too, I use it all the time and I am making a system for my ink pads, alcohol inks, nuvo drops etc, I will come back and show you that once i’m happy with it.  As I mentioned in the video I can expand this with another book too, I will just add the pages in the middle and have Staples or Kinko’s put a bigger binding on it for me which is great.  See you later in the week for another post and live video on reverse stamping and some of my top tips!

Happy stamping!
